Villa santa cruz 790 xxx

As it turns out, Villa Santa Cruz in Todos Santos, Mexico, is absolute perfection. This funky and spacious 4-bedroom home is just off the best surf beach in the area and has a gorgeous view of the Pacific. We could lie in bed and watch the sunset—not to mention the all-day show of whales, dolphins and pelicans. It was a bit cool so we didn't do a lot of beach time, but we did go out for a lunch of fish tacos, hike in the desert among the dramatic cacti, and host an impromptu poolside gathering on New Year's day. Our good friends Sarah and Gordon have a house in town and brought other expats over to enjoy our spacious digs, partake in some sweet local shrimp and toast the new year with delicious house tequila, aging in an oak cask just inside our front door.

This place looks SO amazing! AS chance would have it, we were actually a stone's throw away in Puerto Vallarta. The food was fantastic! the highlight: lobster bisque with a dollop of lobster ice cream in the centre. Yum!

Lobster ice cream? Schwing!! Sounds like you had a great vacation, too.

Feliz et prospero ano nuevo, Laura. This villa looks spectacular. Was the ocean also good for swimming? I spent half of our Mexican vacation in the water.

Happy New Year to you, David! [Don't leave that tilde off the "n" or you'll be wishing me something quite different!! :-))] The water never gets super-warm there apparently (surfers were out in full suits), and since it was even a bit cooler than usual when we were there, the only swimming took place in the pool. It was, nevertheless, heaven on earth.

Thanks! And good to know, all round. (Hard wink.) Will be catching up on your posts this weekend. We seriously envy your frequency. Where do you find the time?

Since I work from home, I generally just document what's going on on the kitchen or around the house at any given time. Honestly, I don't have more than an hour or so to devote on any given day.
